Overwhelmed by what it means to have an identity my work resides around questioning the extent we go to as humans to create barriers, restricting the physical and personal attributes we allow others to see. Bridget Riley stated that ‘sometimes in a mere glance one can see more than in the close scrutiny of a thousand details.’ Through working with light and mirrors I want to reflect an abundance of light so that one fleeting look will never be enough.
Inspired by a want to confront the parts of myself that I hide for fear of being ridiculed and rejected my work evolves around creating several pathways that all lead back to one constant, showing that no matter how much we try and hide from view we are still ourselves at the core.
