Decay and change in form run parallel. The decaying process manipulates its subject, continuously mutating its form until entirely consumed; this force of nature is something that we ourselves will eventually encounter. Through fragility and the inevitability of devastation my work aims to bring into consideration self-destruction of the human form using natural primitive elements such as fire and water.
‘In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.’
