My practice involves studying particular characteristics and behaviour that children demonstrate during play. I am interested in their creative minds and how they are engrossed within their surroundings.
My work consists of building spaces based on; the inner obsessions, traits and interests of a particular child, intentionally trying to adopt their naïve mindset and produce a direct translation. This process results in den-like structures which reflect the imaginative elements of a child, depending on how they embody the world and what experiences they have encountered during their upbringing.
I have paid particular attention to the sinister elements of den-building and the darkness which some children possess from not being able to escape or repress traumas experienced during the early stages of their development. The gruesome nature of how children are portrayed in horror films has been a direct source of inspiration, predominantly when observing their warped fascinations and ant-social habits.
