Sarah Middleton
My work focuses on subjects that are not necessarily visible. Creating a critical view of our sense of time and memory. I am studying how we process milestone memories and how these events go on to influence us, through my own and others experiences.
I’ve researched areas of cognitive psychology and questioned psychologist theories of the process of memories and its reliability. This along with studying relevant artists work has helped me to produce a structured body of work.
I produce relatable pieces of work in order to gain an understanding and allow the viewer to reflect on personal experiences. I experiment with mediums and let my subject matter dictate the materials that I use. For this body of work there is a clear focus on photography and experimentation with projection. These mediums tie in well with the process of memory and this makes for a strong base for my work.
