"...allowing yourself to be vulnerable makes you weak but also opens you to the nuances of beauty"
John Geddes
My practice focuses upon what we really deem to be our most valuable possessions, seeking the personal from the materialistic. Through sculpture my practice allows me to manipulate materials making vulnerable the person behind the art work. Creating self portraits of the person using the possessions collected, organised and finally built up into unique sculptures. Pushing everyday man made elements against the organic, working with varying shapes, sizes, weights and textures. Bold, supported or hidden away, all human traits that are taken on by the works, allowing more to be discovered about the individual. Value and fragility are prominent themes throughout these works, showing the viewer what it really means to be human.
